OilExchange Technology
OilExchange provides our Energy Asset
Management and Property Exchange services through our unique application
of SBC "Server-Based Computing" technology.
Under
SBC, the information contained in
our data rooms never leaves our servers. Instead, we deliver a terminal
screen application across the Internet (or in the case of Internal Asset
Management, a company's Intranet) that contains a familiar browser
interface. Users navigate the data rooms and interact with information
just as they would across the Internet at large but the information is
secure on our servers.
Screens, mouse movements and keyboard entries,
are generated on our server and transmitted back to you over the
Internet. The data you are accessing is secure and never leaves our server.
Through the use of SBC, our system is
platform, browser and bandwidth independent. Users may access the data
rooms from any computer platform (PC, Unix, Mac) across standard
connections from anywhere Internet access is available. The implications for
this are far-reaching:
- Large, complex files may be viewed as
if they were loaded onto your local computer. In some cases, the
OilExchange servers can rasterize and transmit the screen across the
Internet faster than your local machine can pull the same file off your
local disk and display it.
- Because we operate under SBC, none of the
data leaves our server except under instructions from the selling
company.
- Within the data rooms, OilExchange
provides all of the software needed for viewing the data and selected
tools for analysis. We provide all the updates and modifications to the
software seamlessly.
- As part of our technology,
OilExchange support staff can join in or "shadow" a user's
session (at their request) seeing exactly what the user sees on their screen. This
allows our support staff to directly answer user questions or help
navigate to a particular piece of data.
The user must only download a small client
from Citrix Systems to enable access to the data rooms. Registered
users have access to these downloads.
